Description
This classic champagne is a beautiful golden-yellow colour with very fine bubbles, the perfect balance between delicacy and power.
Blended from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different Crus, the Chef de Caves also draws on priceless reserve wines to achieve the total consistency of quality and taste. Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Veuve Clicquot, while Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine, and a touch of Meunier rounds out the blend.
Intense and pleasant on the nose with fruity notes of peaches, mirabelle plums and pears alongside vanilla and toasty brioche, Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label is fresh and full on the palate and, after three to four years of aging, reaches that biscuity complexity for which Clicquot is famous. Long lasting on the finish with spice and fruit flavours lingering.
Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot, the house was later taken over by his widow Madame Clicquot at the age of 27 in 1810. Through determination, intuition and acumen Madame Clicquot not only created the first recorded vintage in the champagne region but built up the Veuve Clicquot property to make it one of the foremost vineyards in all of Champagne.
